Biksthang Heritage Farmhouse sits at around 4,100 feet in West Sikkim, on a site known locally as a birdwatching hotspot. Three Exclusive Single Units make up the farmhouse, each with a spacious living room and bedroom opening onto a private garden, built from natural local materials under gently sloping roofs in the style of the surrounding village. The name comes from local folklore: the Lepcha phrase 'bik mon' is said to mean 'the place where a tiger ate a cow', while Bhutia tradition reads 'biks thang' as 'a place with a wide variety of special stones'. Guests can walk the surrounding farmland and forest, birdwatch from the property, or arrange visits to nearby villages and monasteries with the hosts. Meals draw on the farmhouse's own produce and Sikkimese recipes. November to March brings the clearest views of Kanchenjunga from the property, while March and April bring rhododendrons into bloom across the surrounding hills.
