What we do
Great Escapes is an independent directory of places to stay and trips to go on that are kind to people and planet. We research and write about each escape ourselves. We are not a booking agent or a travel agency. We do not take payments, hold reservations, or act as a party to any agreement you make with a property or operator.
When you send an enquiry through a listing, your message is passed to that property or operator so they can reply to you directly. Their own terms, prices, availability and cancellation rules apply, and any contract for your trip is between you and them.
Accuracy of listings
We work hard to keep listings correct, but details change. Prices, opening seasons, facilities, certifications and sustainability practices are provided as a guide and may be out of date. Always confirm the details that matter to you with the property or operator before you travel. Where we link out to another website, we are not responsible for its content.
Some outbound links carry tracking so a property can see that a visitor came from Great Escapes. Listings are chosen editorially, and inclusion is never paid for.
Our content
Unless stated otherwise, the words, photography, illustrations and design on this site belong to Great Escapes or our licensors. You are welcome to read, share and link to our pages for personal, non-commercial use. You may not republish, sell, sub-license, reproduce or redistribute our material without our written permission.
A small number of articles are republished from other publishers under a Creative Commons licence. Those pieces carry their own attribution and licence terms, which take precedence for that article.
Linking to us
You may link to our home page or to any of our pages, as long as the link is not misleading, does not suggest we endorse you, and does not present our content within frames or in a way that changes how it appears. Please do not use our logo or artwork without asking us first.
Your use of the site
Please do not attempt to disrupt the site, scrape it at a scale that affects other visitors, or use our enquiry form or newsletter to send spam or unlawful content. We may restrict access where that happens.
Privacy
How we handle personal information is set out in our privacy notice. We do not host public user comments or reviews on this site.
