A polished Ubud hideaway rooted in Balinese design, food and calm
Bisma Eight has an enviable location on the edge of Ubud's jungle valley, a short walk from Monkey Forest Road, where 50 suites and villas are built from raw concrete, steel and glass alongside bamboo, Balinese orange brick and reclaimed walnut. Several of the sunset-facing rooms are treehouse-like, cantilevered toward the canopy, and most bathrooms have a deep wooden soaking tub.
Daily complimentary classes cover Balinese cooking, jamu-making and offering-weaving, alongside yoga sessions held every morning on the rooftop. Produce for the cooking classes, and for the rooftop restaurant, comes largely from the hotel's own farm in nearby Tegallalang. Guests can also join the hotel's eco-enzyme workshop, turning kitchen scraps from the three restaurants into cleaning products to take home. The infinity pool stays open into the evening, and it's a short walk from Bisma Eight into central Ubud, past temples, galleries and the entrance to Monkey Forest.
