Your stay keeps the forest standing in a private concession
At Cardamom Tented Camp, 12 safari-style tents circle a natural grassland glade on the Preak Tachan River, reachable only by boat or on foot. Each tent is fan-cooled with a hot-water rain shower and a balcony built for watching macaques swing through the trees. The 18,073-hectare concession the camp protects sits within Cambodia's largest national park and forms part of the South-West Elephant Corridor, one of the last strongholds for wild Asian elephants left in the country, alongside clouded leopard, sun bear and pileated gibbon.
The riverside restaurant runs on solar power and local, homegrown produce, with a zipline strung straight across the river to the hiking trails on the far bank. Join a ranger patrol by kayak or on foot to a remote outpost, help set camera traps, or take a self-guided trail past over 160 recorded bird species. Cardamom Tented Camp funded 620 ranger patrols in 2025 alone, more than 7,700km covered on foot through Botum Sakor National Park, removing 819 snares, 15 illegal camps and 22 chainsaws, as well as rescuing two critically endangered Sunda pangolins. The camp's head ranger, Sokkeng, was once a poacher himself before turning to conservation work; several of his team have similar histories.
