Eight tented suites on a private wildlife corridor concession

Chem Chem Lodge sits on its own 4,000-hectare concession in the migration corridor between Tarangire National Park and Lake Manyara, land that forms part of the Burunge Wildlife Management Area. Eight tented suites, one a family suite, are built from stone, wood and canvas and linked by raised wooden walkways, each with an indoor and outdoor shower and a private deck overlooking a waterhole. Guests pay a Conservation & Community Fee of $180 per person per night, funding the concession fees that keep this corridor protected from alternative land use.

That fee also supports the Chem Chem Association, which has upgraded school infrastructure, run English courses for local youth and women, and provided environmental education across ten villages, creating nearly 2,000 small businesses in the process. Guests explore the private concession on foot or by vehicle, with game drives extending into Tarangire and Lake Manyara National Parks, alongside cultural visits to local villages and schools.
