Green Discovery Laos offers adventurous, low impact tours throughout Laos
Green Discovery Laos is an adventure and ecotourism operator running treks, kayaking and homestay trips across Laos. Founded in 2000 by Lao entrepreneur Inthy Deuansavanh, the company helped draft the government's own ecotourism development strategy, and still routes a dollar from every tour's profit into a sustainability fund. Guides on village-based trips come from the communities being visited, with food and lodging rotated fairly among local host families rather than concentrated with one operator.
Signature trips include Laos' only spider-net bridge and zipline, strung over limestone forest near Vang Vieng, a two-day elephant experience at the Sayaboury conservation centre, and multi-day treks combining village homestays with kayaking through Kong Lor Cave, one of the country's longest. The company makes reusable bags from donated clothing in partnership with the Lao Disabled Women Development Center, which trains and employs disabled women in handicrafts, and supplies refillable water bottles to guests.
