Community-owned eco-lodge on the shores of Lake Mutanda

Mutanda Eco Community Centre is a community-owned ecolodge on the shores of Lake Mutanda, a stunning crater lake surrounded by lush green hills and towering volcanoes. The lodge was established by Mgahinga Community Development Organization, a local NGO that works to improve the livelihoods of the communities living around Mgahinga Gorilla National Park and Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. By staying at the lodge, you are contributing to their projects in education, health, agriculture, and ecotourism.

Mutanda Eco Community Centre offers a unique opportunity to explore Lake Mutanda, one of the most beautiful and biodiverse lakes in Uganda. The lake is home to over 200 bird species, including the rare grey crowned crane, as well as otters, snakes, frogs, and fish. Take a boat ride, canoe, or swim in the clear water, hike along the shore and enjoy the scenery or visit the Skeleton Island, a sacred site where the locals bury their dead.
