Off-grid safari tents tucked into the dunes beside Ningaloo Reef

Sal Salis Ningaloo Reef is a 15-tent eco-luxury camp in the dunes of Cape Range National Park. Sal Salis is the only accommodation permitted inside Cape Range National Park, tucked into the dunes above South Mandu Beach on Western Australia's remote North West Cape, just 50 metres from the World Heritage-listed Ningaloo Reef. Sixteen wilderness tents, including one honeymoon tent, are spread across 200 metres of dune on raised boardwalks to limit erosion, capping the camp at 32 guests.

Each has a handmade jarrah bed, organic cotton linen and an ensuite bathroom with a composting toilet, deliberately without air conditioning, television or phone signal, in keeping with the park's Dark Sky status. Choose from snorkelling and kayaking, guided walks into Mandu Mandu Gorge. Between March and July whale sharks pass just offshore. With no light pollution for miles and the reef metres from your tent flap, this is a stay built entirely around the wilderness.
