An exclusive lodge instrumental in recovery of wildlife in the Serengeti
Singita Sasakwa Lodge is built as an Edwardian manor house atop Sasakwa Hill, inside the 350,000-acre Singita Grumeti Reserve bordering Tanzania's Serengeti National Park. Nine cottages come with parquet floors, four-poster beds, fireplaces and private plunge pools, furnished with a mix of antiques and African artefacts. Since taking over management of the reserve in 2003, the non-profit Grumeti Fund has rebuilt wildlife populations that had been severely depleted by poaching and fire, including the 2019 reintroduction of nine critically endangered eastern black rhino, the largest single rhino relocation of its kind.
Watch the wildebeest migration cross the reserve on a game drive, or take a hot-air balloon over the plains at dawn. Ride at the lodge's own equestrian centre, home to eighteen horses, or spend an afternoon at the tennis courts and Bush Spa. Dinner is served under a fire-warmed roof or out beneath the stars, paired from a cellar of over 200 wines.
