Xigara Safari Lodge

Xigera Safari Lodge is a 12-suite lodge on a private island concession within Botswana's Okavango Delta, in the Moremi Game Reserve. Eighty of Africa's most acclaimed designers and artists were commissioned to fill Xigera Safari Lodge with unique pieces such as sculptural chairs, hand-carved doors and a copper fireplace shaped like a water lily, making it one of the largest privately held collections of contemporary African art in hospitality anywhere on the continent. The lodge sits on the western edge of the Moremi Game Reserve, tucked among indigenous trees on the fringes of the Okavango Delta, its suites raised on stilts so both wildlife and the Delta's seasonal floodwaters can pass beneath.

Reached by charter flight from Maun followed by a short boat or vehicle transfer, Xigera runs on solar power with thermodynamic geysers. Mokoro trips through reed-lined channels are a highlight here, as are walking or vehicle safaris tracking the Delta's elephants and leopards.
